About 5 years ago I helped a friend get engaged via airplane. We had planned a weekend trip from Flagstaff to Scottsdale to enjoy the the warm desert with our our ladies. First thing in the morning, my buddy went out near our ski area and wrote "Will You Marry Me?" in huge, pink letters on the snow. By the time we loaded up and take off to fly over the spot a couple of hours had gone by. We get over the spot and circle several times, but theres no writing to be seen on the snow. All the water in the wet spring, snow had rinsed the writing away. So now he and I are awkwardly looking at each other both thinking, "$#*t, now what??" A few minutes go by and he's got this engagement ring burning a hole in his pocket. He decides to go with plan-B. He just breaks out the ring and asks her....She said yes.
We were on flight following with a nice female controller, so I think it would be kind of cool to share the event that had just occurred with ATC and all the pilots on frequency. The controller comes back and offers a sincere congratulations. A few seconds go by and then a gruff sounding male voice comes out of nowhere and says, "DONT DO IT." The four of us look at each other in surprise, then we had all had a good laugh. I'm glad to say they're still happily married and have started a family.
Great idea! Congratulations!
