GRT Mini EFIS

Anybody have any dealings with GRT? I have glass panel fever, all of a sudden I HAVE to have a Mini B and ASAP. Also one of their EIS 2000 engine monitors. That will be all in my new panel, those two items and a few switches and breakers. The steam gauges and whiskey compass are out of there. A new carbon fibre paneI also, I hope to drop 2 or 3 lbs., we'll see. More capability, less weight, that's the ticket! Even this basic it is much more capability then I need, like my smart phone #-o The Mini is 18 oz., my airspeed, altimeter, and VSI are around 14 oz. EACH.

I am still waiting for any response from them, OK it's only been a few hours after a holiday weekend series of emails to their sales dept, and 3 hrs after a voicemail, I guess I was expecting to be able to talk to a real live sales person and get them shipped out today, that unrealistic or are they still in BETA testing on the Mini? Their site says they are shipping them but no info on how often or how many.

I used their EIS4000 in my last Kitfox. They were wonderful to work with and responsive to every question I had.

I have the EIS 2000 in my challenger. I haven't had any dealings with the company since the unit has worked flawlessly, and all their documentation is on-line.

Re: GRT Mini EFIS

Good to hear.... I calmed down when I got my expected callback a few hours later, they were probably hammered at customer service with the 4 day weekend. The Mini is, due to unexpected high demand, back ordered for 6 or 8 weeks, while they gear up to hit full production. The good news for me is the basic EIS 2000 I want the most anyway will ship in 2 or 3 days, and I will still get the discount for the package deal, when you buy an EIS and a EFIS at the same time, though I just paid for the EIS to date, cool. I'll get the EGT probes installed (never had EGT, didn't need, now i do with the new mixture control), and of course be able to readily see what fuel flow difference I get once I start messing around leaning things out. Plus I got a 78" Prince Prop coming in a few weeks, and I want a performance baseline before it gets here. New toys, but all lighter and better performing.

I plan to mostly leave my existing panel in place, and hotwire the EIS enough to get the EGT/fuel flow part working, I may duct tape or adel clamp it into place for now, no kidding [-X I do not want to get into the major panel re do in prime flying time, I'll do that in the "traditional" 5 or 6 week of total crap early winter weather, high winds, no snow to speak of, and lot's of storms. I may have to make a sign, stating that the installation is temporary, and yeah I know it looks like crap. Luckily it's experimental =D>

Re: GRT Mini EFIS

We have an AFS. Its pretty cool, engine monitor, ADAHRS, etc. I am a little disappointed with them in that we still don't have our high definition terrain package for Alaska yet, so synthetic vision, the main reason we wanted their system, is useless. They assure us its right around the corner. There are significant discrepancies in the manual also. They have been responsive but patience is wearing thin. Had I to do it over again, I would get a Dynon. Made in USA, solid company and you don't have to chase them around as I understand it.

AFS is located just a few miles from my house. Should I head down there with a golf club?

I don't own any golf clubs.

GRT is just one of those exceptional companies with outstanding products and customer support; sort of the Alaska Bushwheels of the EFIS world in terms of customer support. I've been running their sport EFIS and EIS for 5 years and I'm very happy with both. About a year ago an encoder knob stopped working. The repair was at minimal cost and quick. There database and software updates are free so far. I'm a happy customer.

Thanks for the offer Z. Actually, a drill to the kneecap is just as effective and leaves fewer bruises. :-) haha...just kidding. No, it's all good. They are trying. I think we caught them off guard is all, and they might have rushed the 5000 series out the door a little too quickly.

Can't go wrong with the EIS 2000, they are pretty much bullet proof and have a nice readable display.
