Handstand Challenge - Something a little different

Since starting Crossfit 3 1/2 years ago I have lost just over 50 lbs and can now do things that I never thought I would be able to do. Yeah the weight lifting and such is what it is. Its for some and others just dont like it. The other stuff that goes on in there are the gymnastic type movements that I just did not really care about or thought, "yeah sure". Well for starters, I could never walk on my hands. I can now hold a handstand for over a minute, walk over a 100' in distance and I can walk up and down stairs.

Well here is a little challenge for you. They say (I am still not certain who "they" are, as this is something I go back and forth with my wife on almost daily as she refers to "they" often but whatever...If you can get yourself upside down for at least a couple minutes a day it generates blood flow in your brain...Again, whatever...The challenge...

Lets see you fly somewhere cool and stand on your hands and capture a photo, then post it here. You can use your plane as a prop or a wall if you have to. Thats the challenge...

Then you can have your kid or dog run around you while you do it as you walk around upside down

Try doing this every day for a week and I promise that you will start to feel stronger and feel pretty good about yourself. Once you can hold on a wall for a bit try walking along the wall. Then move away from the wall and walk. Try it and lets see what you got!

Get fired up. You only live once!

Kevin, we may end up with a bunch of chubby old guys with broken necks after this (me included.) :D

I admit, the worst thing about getting older and being less active is the reduced flexibility and athleticism. Being lighter opens so many doors. Ok...I gotta finish off this Halloween candy now.

Pretty sure my fitness level will still allow me to do it. Seriously doubt I'll ever be able to handwalk up and down stairs though.

I'll give this a shot. It has been many years since I've done a handstand, sounds fun!

This is going to be very interesting. See The Blue Ice Aviation blog for some great Alaska head stands. Okay...I have some training to do before I submit my photo!

Hahaha, Gump!

I've been crossfitting for a year in December. I still haven't mastered handstands but you can bet I'll try harder for the challenge!

Re: Handstand Challenge - Something a little different

Man, I think Kevin just threw down and named names!!! Congrats on the weight loss BTW.

Seriously, those are some really cool pics. I'll give it a try but if you get a bill from jetBlue for the Aruba flight canceled tomorrow, you'll know why!

As for eating candy, my rational is if I run more I can occasionally indulge. Like blowing carbon out of your car engine. Got to romp on it occasionally!

For a guy that hucks himself off the side of a cliff on two wooden boards, I figured you would have mastered walking up and down stairs and further than 100' a long time ago... #-o Oh, you meant while doing a handstand! #-o

Challenge accepted...although the flying part might be difficult at this time. This is taking "planking" to a whole new level

I wish I'd known about this yesterday when it was sunny and nice and I could have tried it on the grass.

He's a border collie lab mix. Looks a lot like the picture I've seen of yours. He's a smart and very acrobatic dog but I haven't quite gotten him to do a handstand yet! When I do, I'll post it here :D
