Hangar Flying

I've just become the proud owner of a hangar at KWJF - the one I'd been renting space in.
I'm still leasing the land from the county, but the 43x48' Port-A-Port is now mine.

Please pass along any and all advice.

Also, what is your favorite thing in your hangar besides your plane?

Mine's a painting on canvas of an experimental navy missile flying over water. ...but without cluttering the place up, I'd like to make it more 'lived in', I suppose you could say. I spend a lot of time there. I'd like to hear ideas.

Re: Hangar Flying

Big rolling tool box, air compressor, work bench with vice and sofa on casters. If you don't have the first three already just get the sofa. Mike

Re: Hangar Flying

Congrats!

Old sectionals stapled on the wall.

I have a dining set and fridge in my hangar. A microwave and sofa would be nice.

I believe it was Michael Palin, as Cardinal Ximenez in the Monty Python sketch Nobody Expects the Spanish Inquisition who said
"Nobody expects the comfy chair!"

soy, all ya' have to do is go cruise The Hill in the PRB the week after classes let out at C.U., and you can have your pick of comfy chairs and porch couches, sitting on the curb ready for you to load.

Thanks. cubscout

Re: Hangar Flying

My favorite thing about my hangar is I built it! You can see where I started learning to weld, and you can see where I made my last welds. :D

Coincidentally I have a poster of Trident Fleet Ballistic Missile in my hangar. It's a picture of the first underwater launch of a D5 doing the trained porpoise flip after it broke the surface. Lockheed made me take it down when I worked there so I took it to my hangar.

soy, I've got lots of old 78's, but no 97's. The additional spindle speed would take the pitch way above my karioke range, not to mention the tempo...

Re: Hangar Flying

Thanks, Gents, for the replies.

-Minifridge with beer. Check. ...though not a tapper. ...yet.
-Have benches and compressor, but sofa *on casters* is a handy note.
-Old Sectionals on the wall. Excellent. Maybe one of those aviationwallmaps.com jobs (that'll become old soon enough).
-Microwave. Hadn't even thought of that, for some reason.
-Flooring. They're replacing the carpet in the 'terminal' building. I should check into it.
-Overall and spot lighting good enough for now. ...but maybe I should think ceiling fan or chandelier.
-Music. Definitely. I have some old gear sitting around.
-RE welding, I'd like to put in a little loft space. The welder is going on the truck tonight.

Cheers!

Re: Hangar Flying

My favorite thing other than my plane is my Class B Roadtrek Camper that I drive right in.

It has a flush toilet, 26 gallons of water, shower, microwave, two burner stove, 3-way refrigerator, 2 separate heating systems, 2800 KW Onan Cummins generator, very comfortable bed, air conditioning, sink, 7 gallon water heater, 2 Lifeline batteries for 440 amp hrs, and tons of storage.

Sometimes these questions remind me of the old game show, Family Feud.

Before I scrolled down to see what others had said, the number 1 answer was already there 1st. A fridge full of beer...
