Re: Hangar roof modification

I use a few 50# boxes of ice melt salt. Plow/shovel....throw salt.. my man door gets the sluff from the roof...if we see that rare form of vertical snow.

Re: Hangar roof modification

I've got it most of the way chipped and clear - was intending to finish the job and get in the air tonight, but a sick kid has delayed those plans.

I'm still hoping to find some way to modify the roof so that this isn't a recurring problem.

Re: Hangar roof modification

Have you considered an overbuilt evestrough or drip rail mounted to the top half of the door that would divert water to the right edge of the building, looking at it from the door side photo, rather than just running off the roof? It would work with melt water and could be mounted with an agressive angle using the full height of the top bifold panel.

The potential downsides are ice/snow buildup in the trough and buildup in front of the man door. It would also need to be built with substantial enough material to withstand the weight if it did retain some of the ice buildup. You could put an electric heat tape in the trough to help reduce that potential as well.

Just some random thoughts.
