Happy Independence Day!

We're going to spend the day with some friends at the house, probably some hiking at the local land trust and maybe some flying. Exercising our freedoms to gather and enjoy our time together.

I hope everyone enjoys this day that 13 colonies formed a new and enduring nation (including our international friends)!

Right on Cam, thanks for starting this thread.

I'm celebrating by purchasing the three frame documents you see on this page to hang in my cabin to remind me and visitors how/why our country was formed and what is SUPPOSED TO BE it's guiding principals.

Played golf. Great country because of a great constitution. All we need to do now is to preserve, protect, and defend it.

Had to look that one up. History reinvented, courtesy Hollywood.

Otherwise, I agree, happy Independence Day. Hard to believe that our nation has survived some 240 years, in spite of attacks, internal discord, congressional goofiness, and presidential elections. I guess it's a testament to those who put together the Constitution and Bill of Rights, that with so few additional amendments, it's still the document that guides.

In our case, the only thing that's happened all day is cooking, eating, and I got the prime coat on our smaller bathroom--finish coat tomorrow. I HATE PAINTING! But if it makes the lady of the house happy, that's OK. After all, when Momma ain't happy, nobody's happy, right?

Re: Happy Independence Day!

I flew back around sunset yesterday evening. Last 20 minutes of the flight was over the valley in the dark. It was a pretty moving sight to see fireworks going off at all the little communities below me.
