Too bad they all won't just use a good source of info. AOPA on the Today Show trying to curtail some of the BS.

Re: Harrison Ford Injured in Plane Crash

One report had the plane "falling out of the sky"! I would probably say it was a fairly successful forced landing. There are many golf courses around the Santa Monica/Van Nuys area so if he had traveled a bit further AND gained altitude he still might have some open green to put her down.

In '05 while camping under the wing at Oshkosh for the week, wife and I walked our butts off while all these golf carts raced around with no interest in picking up common folks, shuttles were crowded with little room unless you waited for a spot at a bus stop. Along comes one golf cart with 2 guys in and ask us if we would like a ride. Turned out to be Harrison Ford. I asked him what plane he had flown in with and he said the Citation. A little airplane chat and that was it. First class celebrity in our opinion. Glad he is going to ok.

Glad he's ok!! But now I can see the local residents around the airport and the local Guvment putting up more of a fight to close that airport.

Maybe they will look at that and think they need more golf courses near airports. It'd be a safety thing.

If you want to go up, pull back on the controls. If you want to go down, pull back farther.

Had the TV news on this morning as background noise, heard several reports of Ford's mishap but nobody said anything about "no flight plan was filed". I think that's a first!

I have often gotten a similar question from new passengers: "What happens if the engine stalls?" I make a brief explanation that if the engine "quits running", not "stalls", that we'll keep on flying until I put it down on some nice soft field. The next question is usually, "But won't we crash?" to which I answer, "Not with me as the pilot." The final question is then, "Have you ever done that?" to which I say, "Yeah, just once in more than 40 years--no damage to anything." That usually ends the conversation on that topic.

My neighbor at PHNL lost his prop on final, it flew off into the ocean. He said it took a while to realize what happened. Because, he was descending it did not overspeed until he got low and added "power".

Landed on the reef runway 8R/26L. Piper Saratoga. Walked away nothing bent.

Good job by Harrison Ford. It is always nice to have a wing under you to absorb some of the energy. The gear goes away. You don't like to be the first thing that hits.

This shaky photo, taken shortly before a direct hit to the engine, was taken by a tourist visiting California. Rumors continue to swirl the area about the moon's reflection off swamp gas. But, nothing has been substantiated by officials

I seriously doubt they could put up much more of a fight to close SMO than they have for the last forty years or so......assholes.

It was so bad back in the 70s that Hilton Hotels moved their corporate headquarters out of Santa Monica, where they'd been for decades, because of the city council's attitude toward jets.

Some things need correcting.....

There is NO landing strip on Harrisons estate... There is a spot here he can land his heli though. It is next to the green tennis court....

Harrison sold his 206 (N206WT) 12-14 years ago.... He does fly the Husky here ALL the time, the Beaver when it is here, maybe twice a year and the same for the Caravan... He is always left seat in the Jet and that is here ALOT...

Glad he is OK......

They probably saw VonGontard a few miles down river-4881u. The Husky and Beaver are at Driggs these days. I followed Harrison, Spike and Peter out a couple weeks ago. Spike in the Beaver still dressed in his Sovereign suit. I wanted to say something snarky about the shiny shoes but I bit my lip.Harrison was in the Husky zig zagging down the taxiway-- finally he got on the radio and said he was trying to get his jacket off in case anyone wondered what was going on.

That's too funny. Hope he recovers quickly. Sure seems like he sets a good example for training and proficiency.

Probably was Paul... I spent a few hours yesterday pulling up all the T posts used for the cancelled cutter races at Melody.... Walked the runway and picked up rocks and trash.... Flew in this morning and walked over to the Bird for brunch.....

Great day to fly in paradise....... I will look tomorrow, but I am 99.9999% sure the Husky ( 6HY) is in the hangar next to mine... maybe his other new Husky is in Driggs ???

Re: Harrison Ford Injured in Plane Crash

Ben-

Bummer about the cutter races. I hope the hill climb doesn't get cancelled too. HY was with the beaver once when I was in there recently, but I guess that doesn't mean anything. There's so many of those yellow Huskies around. I was stranded for a cold night in KJAC this winter due to fog but I didn't have your number to borrow an outlet. Got a warmup from Jeff- he needs the money.
