HD video of Bonaza Crashing in AK aft tkf Great job!

This is a video of a Bonaza that lost power on takeoff. He did a great job of not stalling/spinning the plane and left with few injuries!

And here is a picture of the plane in the field....you'll have to open the link!

Wow! Looks like it went a lot better with those gear retracted as he bellied onto the grass.

Good job by the pilot not going for too ambitious a turn. You could see him juke left in a brief second of indecision, then he went for that grassy area.

If you read his comments you'll see he was going to a road on the left, then saw powerlines so went back to the right. Also he didn't use the gear because he knew it took 12 seconds for full extension and he didn't have that kind of time!

Wow, good thing he made it across the water too. It would have hurt a lot more if he went into the bank.

Damn good job.
And some of the cameras can even be used again.
When I approach a difficult airport... I take a look around to see what's good on departure.
Like Sedona for example. It looks really ugly on takeoff.... but if you look around on the way in for a recon.... you can see there is a road just past the highschool that might be doable. (is that a word)
You have to head 45 degrees right.... on your departure.... to be in a good spot to use it if needed.
If you head straight out... you are screwed. Anyway, This pilot did really well. Rare to have such footage that shows how fast it all takes place.

Flying is dangerous. If you think otherwise, you are new at this sport. Mind the gravity not the gap.

Re: HD video of Bonaza Crashing in AK aft tkf Great job!

Besides a good forced landing there is another story that goes along this...after the crash the pilot was taken to the hospital in Fairbanks to get checked out and they discovered he had a medical condition he didn't know about and had no symptoms. With this discovery he was able to get proper medical treatment which probably saved his life. I don't think it is appropriate to share any more than this without Dale's consent and I don't really know all the details. He is a very lucky man today.

***THREAD HIJACK***
I'll see your Bonanza and raise you the Evergreen biz jet. They over shot the runway at McMinnville.
I guess them jets don't have good brakes??
