Headed South

Hey all,
Not really backcountry and sort of the wrong end of the country for a lot of you, but I figured I'd throw it out there, My wife & I taking a little flying adventure from Northern NY to Blacksburg, VA, then the Outer Banks in a couple of weeks. Probably making a stop in Southern PA or Northern MD on the way down. We will be out & about for a couple of weeks. Any suggestions on nice/fun places to stop or to make a point of getting too? We are pretty flexible. Blacksburg to see family, everything else for fun. I am told we NEED to be at the beach for at least a few days.
Thanks, Pete

A nice stop that is on your way would be Luray, VA. (KLUA ) they will give you a ride downtown where they have an awesome cavern to tour and a couple of nice restaurants. Google it for a better idea. I'm not too great with words. Have fun.

Thanks Farmaule,
I mentioned it to my wife and turns out she went there as a kid, thought it was pretty cool and thought it would be a fun stop.

I'm a fan of Tangier Island, KTGI, in the Chesapeake. Beautiful and worth a stop at some point. I just finished 10 weeks in the Norfolk area. You can also call and ask permission to land at the Virginia beach airport, 42VA, and spend a couple hours touring their collection of operational, vintage warplanes.
