Heater control migration
Have problems with your aircraft? Maybe just questions about how best to tune or adjust something? Regs or maintenance? Need to know the best way to do something?
On my 56 182 the heater control vibrates out from the closed position....great on really cold days but not when it’s mild ...only option is to close all the air....any way to make it more “stiff”... I know that sounds silly...on several levels....a mini vernier would be great....

Yoy can give rhe cable a little bend right where it comes out of the sheath, that will stiffen it up just enough usually.

I installed a new carb heat cable with a teflon-lined housing in my last airplane, it self-applied on the first takeoff.
I disconnected it, pulled it out of the panel a bit,
and put a very slight kink in it so there'd be some friction against the liner.
Worked perfect after that.

Cessna Skywagon -- accept no substitute!
A friend has it figured out, he hung a wooden clothes pin on it. Works great

Keep the Greasy side down!
Thanks for the advice...I like the locking cable idea as a means of positively closing the heat source....may try the “kink in the cable” as a quick fix....thanks again...

Had the same issue on my 180. We squeezed the cable housing at the end. It takes some trial and error so that you accomplish something but not too much. I would recommend doing the extreme end so that you can remove it if you do go too far. It’s easiest to do with the wire cable pulled out past the end of the housing.
