Re: Heli-saw tree trimming

That's pretty intense flying.

I wonder if the saw has a quick release, in case it gets snagged.

Re: Heli-saw tree trimming

Maybe 20 years ago, I landed behind one of these guys in western NC. The pilot was a young lad and I ask him the question.... you most make a lot of money? He said "not near as much as most people think I should."

He went on to say that his boss (in Texas) bought the company from the inventor's window. Enough said.

PS: I have seen a couple more of these rigs more recently. One pilot told me that it would cut up to 18 inch diameter stuff. I said I can't cut firewood without pinching the saw, what do you do when that happens? His answer was to radio the ground crew, and they climb up and cut him free while he hangs out. Only if that doesn't work, will he release the safety and that is total destruction of the saw.

Re: Heli-saw tree trimming

It is a French registered heli. F=France, XA, XB = Mexico, C= Canada, etc.

Blessed are the curious, for they shall have great adventures!

Re: Heli-saw tree trimming

It's funny, i was JUST talking with someone about the heli saw a few weeks ago. Love the Lama, my favorite helicopter to fly... it's too bad they're on the endangered species list in north america. Still the best performance for the money anywhere.

Is it just me, or does that look like an accident waiting to happen? Amazing though. Where there's an aircraft, there's a way.
