I know somebody that lived like that, nothing like hearing a 400 super-brave sputtering 2 miles out. Fill the hopper and add a couple pounds of air to the left tire, throw a couple gallons of fuel in, he'll be back in a hour and a half. I saw that old fart a couple months ago, he's still above ground.

Re: How close do you plan your fuel?

On a related note, I just drove a bit over 100 miles round trip in the one ton Dodge and came home with 405 gallons of premium mo gas with NO ethanol. I paid 3.59 a gallon, and will eventually get about 30 cents a gallon off that once I get my Idaho road tax back on next years taxes. The trip cost me 20 bucks of diesel. That should get me around 125 hours of flying at my average consumption. So again, someone kick my ass if I ever run out of fuel in the air #-o

405 gal? That's a lot of flying. How the heck do you transport all that?

The guy that I rent from uses mogas in all of his stuff. Our local fuel is not exactly cheap (>$6), and they have the good stuff at the co-op, which is probably less than a mile from the west end of the runway. When/if I get around to buying something, it will definitely have an auto fuel stc.

A 275 g tank, two 55g drums, and some misc containers, flat bed truck. Then it all gravity flows into my haome base tank w/pump. I can't get ethanol free mo-gas delivered anymore, gotta go get it. Twice a year= 250 hrs flying so not too big a hassle.

(see my other recent post about "pilot puts out truck fire") NOT MINE!
