Re: How many Orignations do you belong too ?

There used to be a dirt strip in the Owens Valley called Janie's Ranch, at the north end of the White Mountains at the CA/NV border near Basalt. All the glider pilots knew about this place, and if they were getting low out there on a competition flight they would always call their crew on the radio (usually the wife) and say "I might have to go down at Janie's Ranch". The wives would get on the radi and tell the contest pilot "You better damn well not!"

The strip was narrow enough that it might have done some damage to the glider... and the business located onsite WOULD do a lot of damage to someone's marriage!

The strip is still barely there, not in very good condition, but all the "guest quarters" are long gone.

Re: How many Orignations do you belong too ?

By Larry: "Choose your poison, I don't care, but the biggest sticks in the woodshed are AOPA and EAA and both are spending significant time and dollars trying to lobby about these issues. They may be wasting other dollars, I don't know. But I do know that they are doing something!!! And we desperately need something right now!!! Not later. Am I really excited at the leadership that is currently being exercised? Probably not. But I know something is better than nothing.

I urge to not only join one of the organizations, but also contribute to their PAC fund. "

I have to agree with Larry. Big organizations always become inefficient, but they're what we've got. Without AOPA after WWII, we wouldn't have General Aviation. We'd be like Europe.

So I belong to:
AOPA
EAA
International Cessna 170 Assn.
NRA
MCRGO (Michigan Coalition for Responsible Gun Owners)
The International Harvester Collectors Assn.

Wether you like the magazines or not, they do keep us up to date.

Now, I gotta' get out West and try some of those backcountry strips. Looks like you guys are having more fun than should be allowed!

Oh, shit!!!! Do not DARE to critique spelling around this herd..... #-o

They'll stone ya to death... Trust me.

I believe in supporting the organizations which have the largest membership, and use that tool wisely. AOPA and EAA are high on my list for aviation. I can tell you that AOPA does get concerned with the "little guy", but you don't get far with the rulemakers unless you run with the big dogs too.
