Gene and Cody,

Glad to hear that you will be up there next week. Maybe we can help you with some of the tidying up duties. See you on Monday.

Kitty and I made it home today. We awoke to 19 degrees yesterday at Johnson Creek. It was a head in the sleeping bag night! We were delighted to make some new friends, Jack and Rene. They stopped by to say hi on their way to Big Creek. I think they felt sorry for us since we were the only ones camping there. By the way Jack and Rene, thanks for picking up our mug at Big creek and leaving it in our plane at MAF in Nampa.

We stayed in Dillon Mt last night. What a great FBO. We got there after hours. Walked in. Called the after hours number. Dennis said; "Just take the crew car in, get a hotel and a steak and we'll see you in the morning! They were great.

Flew through rain and snow on the way home. Even got a little ice for the first time in several months.

All for now,

Mark

I flew my old flying friend into Johnson Creek this morning and we rented the Van from Gene and drove into Yellow Pine for breakfast. My friend was diagnosed with cancer a couple weeks back and so I called to see if he wanted to go flying. The doctor said about 6 months. He loves to go flying with me. Each year my home town has a auction to raise money for our Oregon Trail murals. We have close to 30 in town (Vale Oregon trail Murals) Google. I give and hour flight to auction off. Each year my friend Benny tries to get the flight. I have flown him to Big Creek, Sulphur Creek, The flying B ranch, The Minam Lodge, Rome on the River, and today Johnson Creek. Usually he takes his brother or his friend Kieth, but today his son that has motion sickness went with his dad. We had a great time and the son bought some of those wrist bands with the plastic button that pushes on your wrist. He didn't have any trouble with the flight. They are farmers and so we flew over the farm when we arrived back in Vale. I was great day no wind a few high clouds lots of sun and about 62 degrees at Johnson Creek. Bob

Events/Fly-ins

Hi,

Apologies to those that wrote us a note last week. It was a little hectic and we only had time to check weather. Next weekend will be worse as I will be packing up all of my stuff, and as much stuff as Gene can spare. Gene will then bring me and the pets home and that will be the end of the season for me.

Mauleace (what a trooper) dropped the new computer off Saturday afternoon but no time to set it up this year. I found a WIFI Range Expander that should allow a great signal at the picnic table under the Welcome Center roof - not to mention just about anywhere else on the property. Next year should allow pilots to stay in contact with home or business, if necessary, which will also allow them to extend their stay.

It has been a great summer and we can't begin to tell you how much all of you have meant to us and how good it was to see you. I plan on popping in on these pages once in a while with a spot of news here and there.

It would be wonderful if we could return to Johnson Creek next year but this year was only a fill-in for the selected caretakers that had a spot of trouble. But we hope to visit some next spring and summer.

Take care one and all,
Gene and Cody
