a great time... ran into Mark and Kitty (Skymaule) who showed up on Tues... thanks to them my week there was a lot better than if they hadn't come in... My fly buddy bailed out on THursday the day before I left... my 13 year old tent leaks as I found out one night about 1:30 AM necessitating a mad dash ,sleeping bag in hand to the bunkhouse... Next day I spent half the day drying stuff out and drying the tent....I fished Sulphur creek on Tuesday.. . Casted twice in the pond on the way to the creek and caught two 18 inch cuts... Caught 9 or 10 cuts in the stream all over 16 inches, and a few juvie salmon.... about shit my pants when a 4 foot torpedo thrashed by me as I was traversing some rapids between pools...King Salmon are HUGE>>. saw 6 or 7 in two feet of water or less and all were on their way upstream and all were over 3 feet long... some sight I tell you..someone saw a bear crossing the JC runway towards the creek just north of the last campsite, where we were picking huckleberries the day before for pancakes...went up to Elk City and visited with Curt on wed. Wanted to do more and hit a few more strips but I get more conservative about that when there's no one along as company... next year... it was just a great relaxing time and a couple days I just sat under the wing and read a book. Met some new folks who were with Mark and Kitty... Don and Fran in Don's RV... One joke after another with Don... How does he remember them all.....would have stayed and left Sunday as planned but too many airplanes and people...as the 180/185 folks flew in for the Harmonica fest... so I left O dark thirty Sat morning. and was home at 3 PM... flight south through the desert was the smoothest I've ever done... amazing.. not a bump till Palm SPrings and then not even much....gas at McCall was $6.09 so I went to Cascade at $5.56/// not much better and Ray apologized for the price but I could never fault him...he's a legend... well I"ll just count the days till next year and vow to go to more places next time... and hope I have a flying partner... that's about it... hope I can remember some of the jokes...
