Installing Reiff heat bands on big Continental

Finally figured out what works for the heat bands. I tried to have the screw and the power wire between two studs but that put the wire directly under the stud. So I put the wire away from the crankcase and was told that is wrong when I sent a picture. Was scratching my head when a light bulb went on. Maybe everybody else got it the first time but just in case....... I think these are going to be the real deal. Notice the cool nut on the through bolts of my Pponk.

I also put a dab of high temp silicon to hold wire from vibrating on cylinder base and a dab on clamp screw to prevent from turning. Great product

Figured it doesn't get any better for sticking the Reiff hot strip on than this. Sitting in the sun on the porch.By the way, that pan holds 15 quarts level full. Checked it with water yesterday.

I mounted both my heat pads on the bottom of the pan, I figured heat transfer would work best that way.

That is where I put the silicone pad I bought from them many years ago but they say these aluminum plate looking ones need to be on a flat surface on the side. Guess they had too many problem installs with the silicone pad so went to this style. I bought the super dooper system with two heat strips but just going to deal with this one for awhile and see how it does.

We safety wired my worm gear hose clamps as called out in the Reiff instructions.

I remembered this because after I complimented my engineer for the added touch, he looked at me over his glasses with raised eyebrows and pointed to the text and photos in the instruction sheet! #-o

Looks slick, wasn't quite sure how to safety wire. Reiff instructions say either safety wire or the dab of RTV, so you do have the choice.

Apparently if I read them I didn’t recall that option. I looked at them last night to harvest the photo and failed to read as much as I should have before posting. Thanks.
