I don't want to be that guy... but doesn't look like you switched the mags off.... I'm a shocker for doing this on planes without keys.. but I've also leaned on a prop and had the engine fire. Gave me a hell of a fright

If the key is not on top of the panel and visible, don't go near the prop

Thanks for being "That Guy" The guy that had the courage to politely point out anothers mistake, especially when it relates to safety. Others have already pointed that out on other site, but you are correct, I forgot to shut them off.

IMHO the key should be removed, not just turned off.
Whether placed on the glareshield or elsewhere (I hang mine on the altimeter knob),
I think removing the key is less easy to forget than just turning it,
it also makes it easier to see at a glance that the mags are off.
BTW it's the first thing I do when the prop stops turning

FWIW I think it's easier to forget this kinda thing when something out of the ordinary is going on--
kinda like having to turn your airplane around by hand.
Just like something distracting or interupting your pre-flight,
pre-takeoff, or pre-landing checklist--
makes it easy to miss something.
