Karens...They're everywhere!

I guess it's my turn to vent a bit. I read the police blotter today, this call in to LE just reminds me of what a bunch of nanny state Karens there are out there. The amount of 'big city' types that have been moving up into the northwoods country where I live, and whining about everything without knowing the laws/regulations is astounding. A few years ago, a lake home owner called the Sherriff complaining about all the gunshot they were hearing on deer season opener. Thankfully we have a very pro-gun sheriff that responded that they shouldn't have moved into fishing and hunting country if they weren't prepared to endure other people's right to hunt.

Got a bit off track, back to the blotter. In MN, most bodies of water, are legal to operate a floatplane on. This call in just hit me wrong this morning while drinking my morning coffee.

"A 219th Ave. caller complained about a float plane landing and taking off on Lake Plantagenet;"

End of rant.....just thought it was humorous and ridiculous at the same time.

Sounds like Lake Plantagenet would be a perfect place for a large seaplane flyin.

Re: Karens...They're everywhere!

The Bozeman Daily Chronicle posts a short daily “Police Blotter” based on reports from the PD and Sheriff’s Office. In fact, they’ve compiled those into two books now.

Frankly, a LOT of them are embarrassing. And scary….they’re moving in, and they’re reproducing. #-o

At least it’s not surrounded by ADSB surveillance sites…at least not official FAA ones, the people who have the raspberry pi trackers are another story.

Central Washington University in Ellensburg has a flight training program so lots of takeoffs and landings at bowers Field. People build and move to homes under the approaches to the airport then report low flying planes. There is lots of wildlife in the upper part of the county so those folks report bears.

An extremely low-flying aircraft was reported over Brown Road.

A low-flying aircraft doing acrobatics for about 10 minutes was reported on North Alder Street.

Someone reported a white low-flying plane over their residence on Kelsey Lane in Ellensburg.

The reporting party advised a bear would not leave her front porch on Dundee Road in Ronald. She started playing loud music and the bear started to leave after eating all the garbage in the basement.

An aggressive bear reportedly took a stance toward the reporting party as he was assisting his wife out of the hot tub on Vinegar Bend Road in Ronald

Re: Karens...They're everywhere!

I lived in Siskiyou County, CA for 40 years before a move 2 ago. Siskiyou County is open range. That means that any unfenced land the cow has the right of way. A friend had a grazing lease on some forest service land that US Hwy 97 ran through. Some guy ran into a 1000 pound cow. Killed cow and totaled his Buick. The highway patrol showed up to do the report and the driver was totally pissed about his car but really went nuts when he found out he had to pay for the cow. Of course the cow was registered stock and was of high value.

Slippery slope is not a fallacy. The slippery slope is now going really really fast. You never should have let them pick on kids skateboarding or putting all those limits on jetskis. Now airplanes are fairgame and there isn't anything you can do about it.
