Keeping Swingle in the Fight

He doesn't want to be identified, but a very generous BCP member bought one of the new GoPro Hero3+ I had listed and wants me to send it to Swingle. (As some have read, Greg was robbed and lost his gear. #-o )

Regardless of whether he makes another movie or not, the member wanted to thank him for all he has done for the BCP community (in his own wacky way  ) and hopes it takes some of the sting out of getting robbed.

I think this gesture really shows what a cool community we have here. So coming at you Greg is a new Hero3+ Black w/ remote, two housings, card, and extended battery Bacpac.

Yeah, cool indeed. I can't afford to do the same, but I do have a Gopro2 if he wants it. PM me. Or someone clear up for me which user id is his. It's not clear to me if he's patrolguy or wyomingiswindy (or someone else?).

That is very cool. I am continuously impressed by this small community of people. Swingle's videos have been an inspiration for me and a lot of people, I don't think it is out of bounds to say his videos are the gold standard we all judge our videos by.

I agree, although I'd say his videos are more like the "gold-tooth" standard.

(Serious props to whoever did the good deed for ol' Swingle. Hopefully it will allow us all to enjoy more classics like this.)

Although I think a serious paying video production project would be better for his overall sanity.

Re: Keeping Swingle in the Fight

Agreed. His talents are obvious. Hopefully he can find the right gig that really allows him to put them to use.

I hope that entertaining us bozos has been rewarding for Greg, in its own way, but it don't do much to pay the bills. I'm probably preaching to the choir here, eh, Zane? :D

Re: Keeping Swingle in the Fight

My understanding was that Greg also lost his computer and so he has no method of editing his footage. I am wondering about the possibility of passing the hat to get him a Macbook with final cut so he can continue to make movies. I am happy to contribute toward that effort if someone wants to set up funding.

I would think first we need to ask the Swingle if he even wants to make more movies... ...when I emailed him he seemed pretty down on the whole deal...

Tragically, ATXCitab (Hank Sasser) perished in a crash in August 2014. He was a great guy and will be missed. -Z
