FYI, Kelly Airpark, located high in the hills between Denver and Colorado Springs, is having its annual fly-in breakfast tomorrow morning, 7 to 11 a.m. More info, including photos from past years: http://www.kellyairpark.com/pls/apex/f?p=101:201: It's an easy flight, nice runway, nice people, good food--but watch density altitude!
The runway elevation is 7040', and it's been hot around here lately. The current temp at Kelly is 77F, making for a density altitude of 9,636'. It could easily get to 90F today, which would make the DA over 10,300'. On take-off, keep the nose down, maintain airspeed, and accept that climb-out will be at a relatively low rate. There are no obstacles, so there's no need to use Vx--I recommend faster than Vy to avoid mushing and the "what do I do now?" feeling!
Unicom/CTAF is 123.05, but don't count on any unicom responses--it's locals with handhelds. Note: There actually is an AWOS, MNH, on 134.375, or call 303-648-3479.
