King Aircraft Title/Escrow Experience

Does anyone have any experience using one of these types of escrow services? How was your experience? Any watch outs?

Thanks

Re: King Aircraft Title/Escrow Experience

No experience with King, but I used Aerospace Reports (http://www.aerospacereports.com) for escrow services back in February. Everything went smooth, 10% discount for AOPA members, instant fund release, and they file all the registration papers in person with the FAA across the street which is a nice addition. Includes all the airworthiness/registration docs that the FAA has, but honestly a buyer should already have those by the time they get to the escrow portion. The FAA has started accepting digital signatures, so all documents are digitally signed by the parties prior to the deal closing, and then released from escrow at the time of the funds being released. Really reduces the amount of paperwork necessary.

My only complaint was that my agent was about 15 minutes late to work the day I met with the seller to fly the plane home so mountainmatt and I had to stand around listening to the seller's stories until she called us back.

This was my first aircraft purchase so I chose to do the escrow account because it helped smooth out the process and provide at least a sense of protection.

Had excellent service/response from King Title every time I used them.
Helpful, friendly and knowledgable.
Last time using their assistance was fall of 2015.
(Used only title search...did not use escrow)

Re: King Aircraft Title/Escrow Experience

I've used King Aircraft four times in the last five years for title searches. Excellent, fast, and friendly service. If I called before 10 AM Eastern they would email me the results that day and follow up with a mailed hard copy. On one airplane there was a problem with the chain of ownership and the person whose needed to sign to correct it had passed away several years earlier. They talked I and the seller through the process of having the remaining officers of the prior owning corporation fill out the correct form to clear the chain of ownership at no charge to us other than their standard fee for filing the forms with the FAA. I have not used their escrow service but based on what they have done for me they are my go to for the services they provide and if I had a need for escrow I would not hesitate to use them.

You didn't say if you're buying or selling. Last plane I sold I used Aerospace Reports, which was streamlined, thorough and friendly. It actually enabled me to complete much of my end via my phone while traveling. And in that particular case I appreciated having the associated buyer/ seller protections, vs the word of a stranger, about an aircraft I didn't have extensive knowledge of.

Selling in this case. Glad to hear it isn't a big deal. Thank you for the replies!
