I couldn't say. I'm a CA resident and I'm not familiar with the current law in AZ. It's been about a year and a half since I've been there, and it wasn't a concern at the time. Maybe someone in AZ can fill us in on the current regs for their state.

Sure enough!

Well weathered out on Saturday, yikes snow warnings, winds. Tcraft and I flew down to Chandler and stayed with his Uncle. Shawn did a good job of putting her down at CHD. Winds 150@17 with gust, landed on 22 right, bit of a ride

Any way plan a 6-6:30 departure, Chandler-Flagstaff-Page-Delta-Prove-Ogden-Burly-Boise-Ontario will be our route. Flight plan for fuel stop at Delta. 9 to 9 1/2 hours flight time. If you all could muster up a tailwind, Both of us would appreciate it.

If anyone is down this way, I recommend the "Tilted Kilt"  8) :P Good place to drink beer.

I've been wanting to go to Tuweep, would you mind expounding on your experience there? What happened?

I talked to TCraft today on 122.75 north of Ogden, at about 3.30pm. I was flying to Idaho, and heard an "unfamiliar" TaylorCraft talking to SLC Approach. Put two and two together, and had Approach switch them to .75.

Iron butt award

Well if TCraft and I couldn't get an "Iron Butt Award" for yesterdays flight, we should be able to get honorable mention.

Departed Chandler 6:10 local time ( which is pacific time) Landed in Ontaio 12 hours and 5 minutes later. With 10 hours 36 minutes on the hobbs meter. Last leg from Delta to Ontario was non stop and a flat 5 hours.

Airplane ran like a top, with about a 5.5 to 5.7 gph fuel burn.

Enjoyed the talk with Mike out of Salt Lake. Broke up some of the tedeum.

I'll post some pictures later. With a more detailed trip report.

like Bubba said it was quite the trip, and also Bubba just so you know, things were a little bit out of whack as far as the tail wheel goes but thanks to Joe " flying W. aviation Ontario or " they oops I almost forgot "Dan the Man" discovered the leaf springs were bent. So I have new ones coming, but for now it's 85 to 90% fixed. At least i am comfortable flying it also Bubba. I flew today and just did a test landing on the tail wheel fix definitely getting back in the groove.

Also, Bubba would just like to say thanks again for your help and company it sure meant a lot flying in a new plane, in the crosswind, and you being totally comfortable with it most people probably would not have enjoyed the situation I was wondering myself, kind of felt like a fox at the fur coat factory.

Anyway just wanted to say thanks Bubba for one of the most memorable flying trips. I will probably ever have

You and me both. Best fun I've had in a long time 8)

Hey the "Tilted Kilt" has franchise opportunitys? I can be your employment quality control officer. :P 8)

I was thinking something was not quite right with that tail wheel. Maybe fix those springs and you won't have to hold so much right rudder while taxing.

Cya, Thanks again, Bub

Trip info

Well being the pencil pusher I am I did a bit of calculating before dinner.

Now most the time, all the time as far as that goes now that I think of it, the F22 got 500 fpm climb with about 800 to 1000 foot of runway. We were at gross weight with full fuel. That was departing Chandler, Page and Delta.

Overall the trip was 824 nautical miles, and average speed came out to 77.7 knots.

Just fyi. First Tcraft for me to fly in. It pretty impressive little bird. Also Shawn's a good pilot that has quite a few hours in a T cart.
