La Garita & Hooper Fly-In 2016 *NEW PHOTO Thread* Pg. 2

Wanted to give everyone a heads up that we'll be kicking off our 4th season of fly-ins at La Garita Creek Ranch and Hooper Sand Dunes Pool in the San Luis Valley of Colorado. In keeping with past tradition we'll host an early summer and summer fly-in. Please plan on joining us for the early summer 2016 on Friday June 3rd through Sunday June 5th.

This family friendly fly-in will include fly-outs to many wonderful Southern Colorado locations including Hooper/Sand Dunes Pool, Morning Shadows, Quarter Circle Circle, Creede, Saguache, Telluride, and more. A cook will be present throughout the entire weekend to provide breakfast, lunch and the chuck wagon dinner (wonderful food at reasonable prices!). Kids, pets, and anyone with a love for aviation is welcome!

Please visit http://www.FlyColorado.org for the registration, waiver, airstrip information and cabin rentals/tent camping.
Registration: http://www.flycolorado.org/index.php/lo ... creek-fly/
Airport Info: http://www.flycolorado.org/index.php/ai ... ita-creek/

***Important: if you are planning on attending, please take a minute to fill out both the online registration and e-wavier.***

This has been a premier backcountry fly-in here in Colorado for the last 4 years, and the ranch owner and manager have been gracious enough to host it again this summer. Please plan on attending to not only show your support for keeping the La Garita Creek Ranch open and available to pilots year round, but to also enjoy the best of what Colorado has to offer. (The airport is primarily funded by gracious pilots which pay for upkeep and insurance.)

We hope to see you there! For questions or comments, please email [email protected].

If you haven't already, check out the video's from MountainMatt that showcase the area and some of the fly-out's that occur on Saturday:

Re: La Garita & Hooper, Colorado Fly-In - June 3rd-5th

Happened to be in the San Luis Valley yesterday and had a chance to check out some of my favorite spots. Both Hooper and La Garita were in good condition. Had a chance to check out the new pool options too :) (http://www.sanddunespool.com/greenhouse/)

Here are a couple pictures (April 30th).

BTW- There is no shortage of Fuel in the valley now. Leach-1V8, Del Norte-RCV, and Monte Vista all have 100LL.

If I get my airplane back in time, I'll be there, too.

Rez- I'll check again with Mike, but I believe it has been fixed. I know he contacted the vendor and asked them to reprogram the time-out delay.

Re: La Garita & Hooper, Colorado Fly-In - June 3rd-5th

Forgive me if this is the wrong place to post this. But I filled out everything online (waiver, reg, cabin rental info etc.) and have not heard back. This was a week ago. Wasn't sure how it worked but I was trying to get a cabin and figured I'd get some confirmation or something. Thanks,

I received an email confirmation when I registered - sounds like something is wrong. I would contact the ranch. Here is the email address i received confirmation from: [email protected]

Re: La Garita & Hooper, Colorado Fly-In - June 3rd-5th

Sorry guys, we had an issue where Mike wasn't getting the cabin requests (it has been fixed). The requests have now been forwarded to Mike and he should be contacting everyone in the next few days.

At this moment only a few cabins remain, so please book now if you would prefer to stay cozy in one.

Just wan to confirm - but if we previously requested a cabin (like I did a week ago) that request has now been forwarded and I don't need to fill out a new request correct?

Thanks for letting us know!! =D>

Confirmed, no need for anyone that has previously requested a cabin to put in another request. Everything has been forwarded.

Glad to see so many of you planning on attending! 8)

May have to cancel my La Garita trip as it looks like I will have to attend to family health issues in Longmont.

It shouldn't really affect us - but if anyone is going to be in the area be aware there is a presidential 30nm TFR around Colorado Springs from Wednesday 6:30pm until Thursday 2:30PM local time.
