CO area pilots FYI. The AWOS got torched in a forest fire earlier today, obviously no estimate on a repair any time soon. Of course nobody should be anywhere close to there right now unless your plane is dropping wet stuff on the hot stuff, but I'm guessing it'll be a while even after the fire is out.

Got that email, too. Sorry to see that. The folks that install and maintain those remote AWOS's deserve a whole lot of credit--and those of us flying the Rockies have to be appreciative that they do their jobs well.

I received this picture of the toasted AWOS from a friend who works in the relevant state tech office. At least it got a Viking funeral!
