I talked to Tom this morning. He mowed the runway yesterday and he said it's in good shape. He said he was going to try to get out with the roller this week to make it really smooth. Just in case you were wonderin' Zane, it sounds good for a Citabria or Cessna with wheel pants.

Everyone who's planning on attending should give Tom a call:541-934-2333 or email him: [email protected]. He didn't seem to know he might have a good size group on Sunday morning, although I warned him there might be a few planes flyin' in.

Forecast for Bend, OR is deteriorating daily. Looks like SH and TS thru the weekend.

Things look like they might clear up a little for us to the North but the TS business to the South sucks. We may wind up with this as our July trip instead as John suggested. We are all on the fence up here. This looks like an eleventh-hour call. Hey Doug, got weather?

Kurt,

No we're not getting any weather down here (unless you want to call hot and dry, weather). I'ts finally settled into the typical June weather pattern for Arizona after a mild but unsettled spring. We're still on schedule for travel north on Saturday. Might have to dodge a few T-storms though. Clouds don't bother me much as long as hail and lightning isn't coming out of them and the ceiling isn't near the ground. We're actually looking forward to some milder and more moist weather. Looks like we're gonna get lots of both this week...especially moist; but it looks to be mostly convective, so travel in the early hours of the day shouldn't be a major problem...I hope.

To Weather or Not to Weather

Looks like they're downgrading this low's potential for aviation mischief - which probably means we'll get hammered.

Here's a good site for accurate weather info if you folks haven't discovered it already. NCAR-Real Time Weather

The weather links didn't work. And no, I have not found those as yet. I'm rather accepting of the weather as I have come to terms with the fact that it won't bend to my whims! I'm planning on a quite evening in the hangar installing the new ELT and listening to a little rain on the roof. Ah, solitude!
A little wine, song and life goes on.

The links are good. The website appears to be down temporarily; try again later.

Good to hear! I was on the verge of developing a complex. I will try later.
Thanks.

Kurt, your "complex" remark reminds me of a joke I heard recently.... this guy's been going to therapy, and after several sessions the shrink tells him "I have some good news- you don't have an inferiority complex. The bad news is- you really ARE inferior."

Incredible wind here in Reno last night...the sweet sound of sucking between pressure zones. I called RNO ATIS and they reported gusts up to 38, and on the news Slide Mountain was reported as having gusts up to 96 mph. That's hurricane wind!

Hopefully this stuff will move on and leave us a clear sunday. If jmtgt ends up going, I will balance out the right side of the aircraft. I hope it works out.

6-17-05, Lands Inn and Weather

Hi Gang,
We have been socked in here in Myrtle Creek/Azalea 16S since Wed evening when it came in.

Was able to get one field baled and stacked in the barn as the rain came in.

Still have three fields to go and the weather isn't helping. We need the rain, but it doesn't do much for harvesting Hay and Flying.

Rain is forecast to last around here up through next Tuesday.

The Bear has thrown in the towel for this weekend. The McKain Clan will have to look forward to touching base with all you guys down the road as the weather starts to cooperate with our flying and under the wing camping this summer.

Take care to all and even a cup of good coffee isn't a good enough reason to stress the whole family.

God Bless on this Fathers Day and enjoy the family.

Has everyone who is going exchanged cell phone numbers? "Are ya there?" Who knows if they'll work out there. It is off the power grid, you know.

Glad you guys had a good time, looks like the weather turned out to be pretty decent. Wish I could have been there, but the way jmtgt described the strip, my nosewheel may have come undone. Looking forward to the next one.

6-20-05 Land Inn

Hi Gang,

It was good to see that so many of you were able to make it.

Mary, Gavin and I enjoyed Father's Day by cutting and splitting winter firewood before Fire Season shut down cutting.

In between showers, we had to turn the hay down in the field to keep from loosing it.

Every now and then a Blue Sucker Hole would open up above our place and we'd just laugh and keep working.

All and all a great day.

We had a great time meeting ya'll at Lands Inn. Hope we can do this again soon. The rest of our week was a kick in the pants too. I'll post a few pics in my gallery shortly.

Sorry you couldn't make it Zane.

Yeah! That was alot of fun. We stuck around until three and played with the kids in the fossil beds. No luck but lots of fun. Left just ahead of the convection and "shuffled on home". Got some great pictures of St. Helens with various displays of steam. Rough trip home but the kids had a good time. Tom, if you read this, please know we had a great time and enjoyed your hospitality. All of our friends will know of your place! Saw alot, learned alot and smiled constantly. This type of thing needs to be done on a regular basis. We have the means to get around, now we need to keep it going. It was great to meet everybody. Airplane people are just cool!
