Larger Tires interest
Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?
"ribs" as in grooves? I guess they must be good for something, but it seems their main function is to fling rocks at your struts and tailfeathers.
I am going to have to operate primarily on a short grass strip and wondered about turf tread tires. Would this improve braking on grass enough for the cost or effort of carving Diamond tread in my own 8.50 X 6s? I see how the grooves would reduce hydro planing on hard surfaces but are there any drawbacks or benifits to the smooth tires on grass. I already have a big dent in my .040 screw-on horizontal leading edge from a flung rock. The 4 x 4 fence posts will do more damage if I dont get stopped.
