Last Flight as a Family of Four

Well, the wait is almost over. After expecting our new baby for the last couple of weeks, the doctor says that if Dee doesn't go into labor by Monday, they will induce her. So, we decided that we should go for one last flight as a family of four. We flew northeast of OGD and had a nice scenic flight on the back of the Wasatch looking at the Fall foliage. It was a beautiful evening for a flight.

Before the flight, Sadie was running around the airplane saying, "I fly airplane!"

My girls. I think the sound of the engine spooked Sadie a bit. It had been too long since I had her up.

My little co-pilot. He was thrilled to be back up front and to have several turns flying the plane.

Our last family photo as a family of four. We'll need a bigger plane soon!

Of course Sprocket came along as usual.

Get'em trained young!

That's a great woman! 9 months pregnant and not only flying, but also helping clean the plane afterwards!

Re: Last Flight as a Family of Four

Reminds me of the comment about pioneer women. Something to the effect that they had to put up with the hard work, long hours, food shortages, isolation, harsh primitive accommodations, cold, heat, dust, illness, death, fear of attacks, crop failure, fear of crop failure, and all the rest, just like the men. Only, on top of all that, they had to put up with the MEN.

I believe I might have heard it from a woman........

No reflection meant on anyone in particular. Just relaying a woman's perspective......

Beautiful family.....

.....beautiful life. Earned, well deserved and fate is thus far smiling. How well I remember those treasured years, how quickly they passed.... how they are missed. Best of life to you and those you love. In the words of the comedian, Red Skeleton,as he would sigh off of his TV show many decades ago....."God Bless"!

Ahhhh, what a great thread. Hey PiperPainter, you find those women on the western slope of the Rockies and in Alaska. They are the ones that are in church on Sunday mornings, not the ones in the tavern on Friday night. I got mine in Alaska, but we weren't blessed with that great big family. I don't know you Cory and family, but I'm proud of you anyway. Way to go.

Yes, Cory, you are a fortunate man, indeed. God has blessed.
Savior these years when the kids are little, for they are grown and gone before you really can comprehend how quickly time flies.

Thanks for the post and pictures.

PS This was meant to be a secondary part of my above post,......
but I got side tracked with the 'humor'. :)

Re: Last Flight as a Family of Four

Life is strange.

Our love(that of my wife and I) was born in a bottle of Scotch.... fueled by 90 proof alcohol. After a number of years the fiery passion of booze and dancing on tables passed. We were left with a love and dedication that continues to grow beyond any reasonalbe expectation. 31 years of blessings and joy have been granted us. God, fate, luck....you pick. Turned out that way. At age 64(she just turned 59 last week) we continue to enjoy a love and happiness that is .....well, just wondrous to us. And.....my wife gets 83% of the credit.

So sometimes life works out. Even love which begins in a bar can sometimes continue for a lifetime ......in a happy home deep on the forest of rural America or even in .......

Thanks grassstrippilot for turning us on to a thread of love. First one I've seen here.

Bob
A very wise man (my father) once told a young man approaching manhood, (me) "Watcha wanna do son is marry a woman who is basically sane". Unfortunately I couldn't attract any of those, so I married one at my same basic level of insanity.

We do what we can.

I shouldn't talk, there was a time when I needed a 6 seater too.
Congratulations in advance.

Re: Last Flight as a Family of Four

Thanks everyone. I appreciate it. I know I have said it many times before, but I am very fortunate. I met Dee on USU's bus going up to campus for a 7amish class. Eventually I asked her out for lunch and the rest was pretty much history. Dated for 5 years, married for 12 here in a few weeks. At first she wasn't real keen on the idea of being married to a pilot, but I guess that wore off soon enough. It must have been getting her to the backcountry right off the bat that softened her on the idea. Yeah, we finally figured out what is causing these things to appear! This will be our third and last...barring any divine intervention.

Z3, I can only hope to find myself in the same place down the road. Good for you.

Brian, she does have a sister...but I'm afraid that a good part of your gas money would go to stilettos. Although she does keep saying she would like to come see JC after hearing so much about it. Maybe when we get the bigger plane.

As for flying plans, we plan on being to Caveman and JC in full force. I don't think we can swing a new, bigger plane this next year, but we'll stuff everyone in the 182 and at least get to the fly-in. Our long trips will probably have to be replaced with more shorter ones until a suitable aircraft is purchased.

Thanks for the well wishes. I'll post an update as it progresses over the next few days.

Re: Last Flight as a Family of Four

Thanks Ems and Blu. Yeah, we figure we can make it work. Just will have to leave some of the luxuries at home and eat out more.

Matt, after several near misses, we are also amazed that Sprocket is still with us. That puppy has been a lot of places!
