Lonestar STOL

Anyone going to The Lonestar STOL Competition next weekend (March 14th)?

I'm thinking of making the trek down there from Michigan (weather permitting) and am wondering if its worth the trip.

I need to log some flight hours and am really just looking for somewhere fun to fly.

I made it into Colorado Springs yesterday. Easy run to Gainesville today, 30mph tailwinds the whole trip!

Announcing was my primary responsibility, but I am pleased to announce I also pulled down 2nd Place Light Touring!

I found out about the live streaming thing just in the nick of time, and texted friends all over the country immediately. Great announcing job, overall a pro presentation, especially the slomo replays! It was weirdly fun to watch, with people I know involved, while sitting at home while it sleeted and blew outside.

Hey Jughead,

How was your trip home? Did your 30kt tail winds on the way down show you some love on the way home?

Nice job with the mic!

Once we got clear of OK it was pretty easy trip. TW all the way across Kansas. A little WX in western KS/NE. Calm conditions all the way across WY. TW thru ID/OR/WA.

Re: Lonestar STOL

You had me up until "calm in WY". :) You did a great job Jughead!

It was great seeing everyone there despite the challenging conditions. Doug did an amazing job, I was very impressed by the event overall.
