lost knife at indian creek

probably a long shot... but just in case... i think i left my favorite buck knife at indian creek a few weeks ago, probably in the camping area. if anyone happens to be going there and they find it let me know. it's a larger knife in a sheath.

Scott,
Don't loose hope, There is something magical about backcountry strips.
I lost my "favorite" set of truck keys while at a work party at Dug Bar. I had been all over the strip helping with the work party.
I flew back the next day with my family figuring it was a long shot and at least the kids could do some fishing. With in 10 mins I had found my keys in grass that was about 10" tall. I was amazed...

Good luck getting your knife back. I'm sure if anyone did find it and they read this you'll get your knife back. Pilots are usually pretty good people.

One year my brother left a backpack at Thomas Creek. It was my dad's backpack that he's probably had for over 30 years. We figured someone had probably found it and we'd never see it again. The next morning I flew my brother to the strip and after a short search we were surprised to find it laying just a few feet off the side of the runway.

Re: lost knife at indian creek

thanks whee. it's not a huge deal, it would cost more to fly there to search for it than the knife is worth but it would be nice to have it back. who knows, maybe i will find it next time i go there.

Re: lost knife at indian creek

Hey Scott, your lost knife brought back this "flash back" when I was 20.
Back in 1979 my dad & I went camping up at Monogram Lake in the North Cascades of WA. Our camper was parked at the trail head. We hiked up to the lake for a 3 day trip. We came back to find the camper was broken into. All the hunting/camping gear in it was stolen. He filed a report detailing all the missing stuff.
Many years later my dad got a call from the Parks Dept stating they recovered his gear! He went to the Ranger Station and picked it up. When they caught the thief they found his house stocked full of gear. He had been preying on the vehicles of out of town hunters and campers. The Rangers said they tracked down my dad by his drivers license # he engraved on this knife. The Rangers (and me) were amazed that dad had his name on all his gear & his identification on the nice stuff.
In 1978 the knife was shipped to my dad as a Christmas gift from his hunting buddy in Thailand.
I hope your knife is found & returned. We like happy endings.
Sam

Re: lost knife at indian creek

reminds me of a story, a mate of mine took his dad flying with us in the back of his drifter, anyway when we got back he discovered he had lost his car keys out the side of the plane. Anyway after looking everywhere just in case, he finally had to call his wife to come down with his spares so he could drive home. The next day he pulled up at his work. he works at a massive hardware store over here called Bunnings, and this particular store happens to be right next to the airfield we used to fly from. When he got out of his car, there where his keys, sitting in the car park about 6 feet from his car. They must have fallen out on downwind and there they where over night! right after work he went straight to the newsagent to buy a lottery ticket! No bullshit.
