It's sure confusing unless you're a mechanic. I'm on the FAA's list to be sent all the SAs and ADs theoretically applicable to my airplane, but invariably when I get one and then contact my IA, he'll tell me that it doesn't apply to my airplane--which is the case here, too.

Good to let your IA/AP look at SI.

My hangar...

Engine was delivered factory new 2008.06.23 I do not fly aerobatics, therefore the inspection portion of the SI would be investigated.... The serial number L41343-36E is applicable because it ends in "E" (wide deck). But, SI doesn't apply, because the engine was manufactured after the date Lycoming started using the thread locking compound on the governor idler setscrew.

June 2007 appears to be the cutoff.
