Maule back seat

Hello all. 10 years ago I bought a M5 when I purchased the plane it didn't come with the back seat tubes. Now that I have kid it's time to get a sling seat. Quite a while ago I orded one from the factory and received the upholstery and lower seat tube. After a continued waitfrom the factory I decided to build an upper tube. I ordered some titanium and built a jig for welding. I'm wondering if anyone can weigh a factory tube for comparison. Mine came in at 19.04 Oz.

Re: Maule back seat

I could weigh mine and tell you, but it wouldn't be meaningful. My upper is a slightly different design. The "Y" attaches to forks on the door side of the airframe with fast pins. No tools are required to remove it. You just press on the fast pin release button and pull it out. It's a great upgrade the factory made on later models. It should be applicable to your plane too.

Nice work, like putting a Tesla seat in a tractor. I’m sitting beside a Maule back seat tube right now but I don’t have a scale with that kind of accuracy, all I have is a bathroom scale.

Re: Maule back seat

Thanks I know it's overkill but I thought it would be a cool project.
