Morgan County to Johnson Creek

Going to spend a week with my son and family in Morgan County,UT (just east of Ogden). Then from there fly to Johnson Creek. No fuel at Morgan county and I should have 3 hrs in tank when I leave there. What would you guys guess is best place to stop for fuel before heading into BC. Plan for 110 KTS

Jerome or Gooding is usually cheap and a good stop. Arco can be cheap but their pump kinda sucks and may be hard to operate.

Picabo does have mogas but it does have ethanol if that bothers you.

I haven't looked at a map to see if its on your route, but Gooding almost always has the cheapest gas in the state.

Gooding to JC keeps me west of the Sawtooths. Takes me over Atlanta. That will be my route. Always subject to change.

What's wrong with the east side of the Sawtooths?? It's just as, if not more beautiful!! You can fuel up in Sun Valley

Re: Morgan County to Johnson Creek

Hey Tim,

Gooding is usually the cheapest. Jerome is usually close in price. If you fuel there, they have two pumps: one high flow, one slow. Picking the slow one can be irritating.

As for the route, I prefer going up over Hailey, Gelena Summit, Smiley Creek, Stanley, Bruce Meadows, Landmark, to JC. I used to go home, and sometimes up, on the west side, but there is some gnarly terrain in between strips that way and I've since opted for the other route just to have more options...especially when the whole family is on board. Worth the extra few minutes.

Yell when you get in town. Maybe we can meet up. Otherwise I'll see you at JC!

Re: Morgan County to Johnson Creek

Jerome (KJER) has been less than Gooding lately. There is also a drainage just about due north of Jerome that takes you right to Smiley Cr. The last time I went to Hailey and over Galena I had to ask the tower if I could land long to get off the first taxiway to get out of the way of two Citations coming in behind me! Ah, life in a Kitfox!

Hailey?? I quit stopping there when they put the tower in. No reason to, with mo-gas Picabo a few miles away (if you swing that way, mo-gas way). No Citations there! Coming up on Galena Summit and peaking over into Smiley Creek (early in the day and good air of course, no use carrying any excess altitude when a Smiley Creek breakfast stop is planned  ) is one of the best and most dramatic views in Idaho, my two cents worth.

LOL! I know, Tom! I wouldn't stop at Hailey for fuel neither. That town is way too hooty tooty for me!! :D

Heck, even McCall is getting bad!

Re: Morgan County to Johnson Creek

Yeah I have no need to go to Hailey either and pay their current $7.94 for avgas when Gooding is at $5.14 and Jerome at $5.24. I'll be swinging by Gooding on my way home.
