Motivation.

Saw this on the bearhawk form:

That's pretty! I need to get back out into the shop and keep building. I have one of those, I just need to put it together!

Motivation.

How far along are you, @akschu? I'm still working on wings. I know you’ve been working on it longer than I have.

Re: Motivation.

I had a bunch of family drama that set me back years, but I'm back working on it. Right now I'm working through the trim system and finishing my skylight.

For the trim system I'm going to mount a ray allen servo in each elevator and have them directly drive the servo tabs. The reason is because I don't like the servo action on the trim. I know some people say that they like it, but everybody that flys the airplane heavy and with aft CG is united in saying that it's more of a handful than it should be.

By using a second ray allen servo I get some redundancy, electric trim, and it's just simpler and lighter weight. I have a servo controller board I'm working on that will sync the two, only allow one to be 20% out of alignment with the other in case one fails, has a return to neutral button, and a rotary encoder to allow the overhead trim wheel to still work.

This bit of engineering is certainly taking longer than I hoped, but I'll have an awesome trim system, and I'm nearly done.

As for skylight, things are cut and fitted, I just need to tack everything in place then finish weld.

I also have the boot cowl and panel sorted out.

So next will be running wires for ELT, antenna mount, and some tabs for various things. After that fuel lines.

So I'm not all that far, but farther than last year.

Re: Motivation.

I find that happens often, someone says "cool pic" I go looking only to be met with nutt'in. I am reasonably convinced it ME and a clear lack of tech skills and not a fault of the poster

That is our member Blackock's airplane, the one Bearhawk I have flown. It's an awesome machine.

Seen here with slightly smaller shoes:

Re: Motivation.

The ramp presence of the one pictured in the first post is amazing.

I think you forgot a letter Z. Although that would better explain the two LARGE dark colored accessories on the bottom of his plane
