That plane was at the Arlington air show. Now I regret not looking at it closely.

I checked it out at AWO. It looked very cool, the thing I noticed most is that floor goes pretty much all the way to the tail. It looks well built, with a bunch of stiffeners in the tail as well as slight ridges in the skin. It had a nice roomy cabin and is an all around good looking aircraft. About the only thing I'm not a fan of is the pop rivets and I'm not sure about the bungee gear. The profile with the gear legs covered is cool but I would think sprung aluminum would be easier on the pilot.

Thanks for posting those vids.
I thought the plane would have massage seats based on their chosen music.
One more vid on it from Aero-TV's channel is here:
https://www.youtube.com/embed/bEDwJ-IO34MThe guy from Murphy calls it a SuperSTOL at 0:52 and 1:48. I thought that was a
Just misapplication of another plane's name.

Is it a "super" STOL, though?

I saw the bike rack (with bike installed) at Oshkosh last year. It was pretty cool!

This plane is based at my airport.. it performs quite well.
My friends that have flown it say it has no bad habits.
The bike rack doesn't affect any noticeable flying characteristics.
Hmm. Biggest complaint I have heard is the bungee chord gear.. anyone 60 years plus love the bungee gear.. all the younger people think it should be spring or shock gear like the juststol.

The thing I don't like about most of their designs, the Rebel etc, and now this, is the viz. The pilot looks sideways pretty much into the wing root, and it doesn't look too good forward either. I'm also in the chrome moly structure camp, but it wouldn't break my heart to not ever cover a plane again. But the viz is the real deal breaker for me anyway.

I've always thought the Rebel was pretty cool looking. This has an interesting cowling. At first I thought there wasn't any bottom exit but in the first video it looks fairly far aft right above the bungee cabane? In the second vid I see they added some large louvers along the bottom cowl.

I've been looking for pictures of the original exit as well, haven't seen a good one yet. And I agree on the louvers - could one describe them as ...
RADICAL?

home hand jam "wizard"
The plane had a mountain bike hanging from each wing at AWO.
I laughed because one of the exercises I used to walk my students through was how airplane modifications (337, STC etc) were done and I always used the preposterous example of mounting a bike rack on a C172.
As for the visibility from the cockpit I agree - except that the C172 has always had the exact same defect. If you're sitting high enough to see over the panel then you're looking right into the wing root when you turn your head.

Here it is at the Arlington Fly-in with the bikes mounted. I'm not exactly sure why, but the plane just doesn't appeal to me. Daryl Murphy (the owner of Murphy Aircraft) tried to sell the company a couple of years ago and was entertaining some offers when the government of British Columbia came in and explained that they'd like to see the company stay where is was and possibly grow to keep some manufacturing jobs in the mostly rural area. The government provided seed money to expand the product line and to grow the fabrication capabilities. With that in hand, Daryl withdrew his offer to sell and set to work on growing the company. The fellow showing the plane at Arlington is currently head of production at the company and hopes to move into a more senior role when Daryl retires. He was full of energy and enthusiasm for the plane and the company and that is always good to see. I wish them well. One of the guys at my home airport (0S9) has a Murphy Renegade, a small biplane. The 2 stroke Rotax engine that was powering it finally gave up the ghost and he is re-powering it with a radial Rotec engine. It really looks good with the new power plant on the nose, but hasn't flown with it yet.

I saw that airplane at Arlington also, but didn't notice what engine it had.
At first I thought the sign said "radial" and couldn't figure out why it didn't have one!
I would like to see the gear legs without the fairings in place--
I saw a Rebel a while back that had been built with the original bungee type gear ,
and the gear leg structures were kinda flimsy looking -- lightweight-ish angle pop-riveted together.
Not exactly confidence inspiring with rough field work in mind.
The ones I've seen with Grove leaf spring gear look a lot sturdier.
