Looking for anyone with experience with the Murphy Yukon kit, I would love to hear what your thoughts are as I'm looking at building one with the intention of attaching amphibious undercarriage.

Check Ted Waltman on here. He has built a few Murphy Moose and is an excellent source of information.

I know zip about the Yukon, but I've spoken to many people about the Moose lately and everybody says the product is excellent, but the company is a PITA to deal with.

That said, Chilliwack is about 90 miles from me so if you ever need local help, send a PM.

I looked at a Moose yesterday and absolutely loved it. If I can get sign off from Ted and my wife (not in that order) I can see a transaction on the horizon.

There is a Murphy Yukon on amphibs at Chilliwack airport. Beautiful plane but I do not know details.

The one in chilliwack was the factory one made for Daryl Murphy. He sold it before it was complete. It has an o470 on the front.. I'm thinking something like 2970/2870 Amphibs (don't quote me on that, I don't know my float model numbers)

I don't know much about the Yukon. Lightweight design. Only two or three kits were made. Might be tough to get support/questions answered. There is a new general manager at the Murphy factory. You might try calling them and asking what information is available and what parts, if needed, could later be ordered.

Ted, I'm sure you saw the post from Irish, but it looks like the new guy isn't so friendly. I guess they have been pushing the Yukon design pretty hard the past couple of months, and now if you want factory support, expect to pay a healthy chunk. No more $100 gets you everything. Now, for say a Yukon that is built, factory support will cost ya $2262 for 7 years.

I can't say enough good things about my Rebel. However, it will be a cold day in hell before I paid that price to get support. Sure would be nice if Vans would pick up the line and market it appropriately.

Yep, sigh, the rationale for the new support fee structure--other than a vain desperate attempt to generate near term revenue at the expense of long term sales--it beyond me. I don't want to get into the whole factory, (incomplete & poorly written) build manuals, (lack of) service bulletins, et cetera here.

I'd never heard of the Yukon, so I googled up Murphy's website.
There's some mention of it on their home page

I guess at 2500# gross it's in between the Rebel Elite @ 1800# and the Super Rebel @ 3000. Moose is 3500# FWIW.
Their website doesn't seem very comprehensive.
If they want to sell many, they better get some better information up online.

Any news in the last two years on the Yukon?
From the website, it looks quite capable.

I believe there might be two flying? I don’t think the factory produced more than a handful of Yukon kits. Best to call the factory for the latest facts.

I was interested in the Yukon, also. Especially considering that I wanted something I could build, be capable of *some* backcountry flying, and could carry my family (four of us). I haven't been able to find much more that covers those three requirements. This is a little bit on the high side of what I wanted to do budget-wise, but wasn't out of the range. Anybody have alternative ideas?

I'm worried that the Yukon runs the risk of becoming a bit of an orphan. However a "partially" assembled Moose with a radial engine will be my "go to" retirement project once I'm finished provided ongoing "educational" support for the younger family members !!

There was a nice started, partially assembled Moose on Barnstormer a while back that was calling my name loud and long; common sense prevailed, the banker my wife.
