My last (?) trip with Whiskyblue...

Hey,

You all know that Whiskyblue is for sale, but until she's sold I want to enjoy my bird as much as possible.

Opening the hangar door, looking at my bird and imagining the next trip always creates a warm, fuzzy feeling - even though the coming adventure will be our last one.

Hi Wolf- what's the backstory on the Alaska flag up there next to Spain and Slovenia?

Enjoy the flight and the fall colors,

Alaska! The place that always conjures up memories and fantasies for anyone who loves flying in the backcountry.
Gotta keep the imaginations alive.
Even Whiskyblue still (she never gives up...LOL) dreams of seeing the Knik and the Wrangells.

A bit of nostalgia set in: heading east to visit a place I landed at during my first trip with Whiskyblue five years ago.

Wolf keeps his bird in one of my hangars when it’s in MA. Im a Slovenian, and Alaska… well, isn’t that obvious??? LOL

The Blue Ensign of New England is an homage to the history of MA/Boston, and we hung Spain as Wolf is now living there….

Re: My last (?) trip with Whiskyblue...

Hello everybody,

I’m planning my last trip and hope to make it to Duluth/Sky Harbor, Minnesota.
No definite route, going with the weather. Probably via upstate NY, then Michigan, Upper Peninsula, Wisconsin, into MN.
Return to Boston via a more southerly route.
Tomorrow, Friday, should be the long haul day. Once in MI, I’ll take it easy.

I’d love to visit fellow pilots along the way. Shoot me a pm or email if you want to meet.

Re: My last (?) trip with Whiskyblue...

Great routing, I hope to do a northern tour also sometime.

Hopefully it's not too cold by the time you get to MN. There's a great restaurant called Zorbaz on Detroit Lake (DTL) if you make it that far, but it might be end of season for them. That part of the country is really neat. Look forward to seeing the video.

Re: My last (?) trip with Whiskyblue...

If your return via a more southerly route comes through Middle Tennessee, the Beech Party is in Tullahoma TN in two weeks. It might make a good stop.

Re: My last (?) trip with Whiskyblue...

Hello everybody,

I reached the westernmost point of my trip and will now head south/east.
The plan is to go to the Beech Party in Tullahoma next week, so my journey will take me from Minnesota through parts of IA, MO, IL, AR, IN, KY.
I'd love to meet people, let me know where you are and I can point the nose in your direction.

If you are heading slightly west on your trek southward from Duluth, stop in at my place and I will give you a ride over to Itasca State Park to see the headwaters of the Mississippi River.

Re: My last (?) trip with Whiskyblue...

Hello everybody,

I'm a little behind on my videos - or ahead on my flying...
Anyway, tomorrow and Tuesday I plan to visit Trigger Gap and Richland Creek in the Ozarks.

If anybody is out and about, shoot me an email, would love to meet up.

Then I'll plan to be at the Beech Party Thursday - and maybe Friday.

Re: My last (?) trip with Whiskyblue...

Hello out there,
Just had a great breakfast with the RAF group at the Beech Party in Tullahoma and now I’m heading back east towards Boston.
Does anybody know of a fly-in within a 45deg cone of my easterly heading this weekend I could visit?

Thanks.

When I flew over so many lakes, I couldn’t help but think about putting Whiskyblue on floats.

Do it, a 170B on floats is a thing of beauty however I might be a little bias on the idea.
