My new project, turbo Rotax
Lycoming, Continental, Hartzell, McCauley, or any broad spectrum drive system component used on multiple type.
I am running a Garrett GT2052, it is not a kit I selected all of the items. It will be mechanically controlled boost using an adjustable wastgate.

The fuel consumption at sea level will be the same maybe slightly worse due to the pumping losses of the turbo when not producing boost, reduced compression ratio and ignition timing.
If you went up high the turbo will win in mpg due to the speed increase.
If you want more power and efficiency from your naturally aspirated engine I could make you a flywheel and equal length header so you could bump up the timing and improve the exhuast systems scavenged effect.

It seems to me a waste going through all the trouble and expense dumbing down a 912s for the turbo.
Wouldn't it be better to start with the cheaper 912 80hp? and just increase the boost.
Well the uls is a larger engine so we can get more power, 150-160 is the goal,
and Greg already owned it.
And fell free to ask away.

Well thank you, mongo, Don't mind if I do.. if I can't find them on Google
It was my understanding that there really is no difference between the two engines except higher compression, but just reading on the Rotax owners assc FAQ's. I see there is more to a 912s than just that.
Thanks for showing us your project, it looks very exciting and good luck on hitting 160hp. If achieved Greg's machine is gonna even teach those over clocked super cubs a thing or two.

You should have heard the Carbon Cub guys at Airventure this year. I sat behind them at one of the flight briefings. They were totally owned by Troy and his Highlander Super STOL to the point of being genuinely embarrassed to be there.
The repolished 1930s tech is really not up to par any more compared to the genius innovation that is coming out of the experimental world.
