Yesterday after I got my tach cable replaced, I headed out on a flight to check it out. I figured it was a good chance to go check out the Fall colors as well as recon a strip east of the Ogden area. Unfortunately it got cloudy and I lost the sunshine that would have really made the colors stand out, but it was a pretty flight nonetheless. The stip is Guilder Peak. It looks like it is in pretty good condition. It sits around 7,500 ft and isn't really long though. It's on private ground as well. It sure would be a pretty spot to be able to go spend a night if the owners were open to that.
Back at OGD, I decided to land abeam the dirt strip I've been wanting to land on. So, on the first pass, I landed on the asphalt abeam the starting point to gauge how much I needed. Seeing it shouldn't be a problem, I decided to take off again and give it a try. All in all, it was a great afternoon of flying!
