SERVICE CEILING -noun - The altitude at which the pilot starts smacking the dash, exclaiming, "CLIMB OL' GIRL CLIMB!"
I'm curious how fast the plane gets going before it hits the ground. I am surprised at how well the 3 point harness holds, though I still wouldn't recommend them over a 4 point.

NASA Langley does some great work. They are one of our customers at the company I work for. I got to witness their Fokker F28 test, was pretty awesome.

Before the NTSB released the new and (seriously NOT) 'improved' CAROL search tool for the aviation accident db I used a simple keyword search to locate 3 point harness accident injury and fatal outomes. I was surprised at the number of fatals with 3-point where side loads and a loose across the chest restraint where a diagonal vector side load allowed the pilot to slip out of the harness and have a serious head impact on the panel. 4 - point with (especially with inertial retractible) shoulder restaints are way better than 3-point harnesses.

I agree that the 4 point are way better. And I've seem NASA videos where they slip out of the 3 pt easily. But I was surprised in these 2 videos how well they held. I still recommend that my customers remove the 3 pt and go 4, but for those that can't, these 2 videos give me a bit more hope for their survival should anything bad happen.
