Need a PIREP: Springs Aviation

I'm leaving soon for a trip to Idaho, stopping to visit friends in Colorado Springs. They live close to Meadow Lake (KFLY), where I think we'll stay. Springs Aviation, located at KFLY, has a website detailing their flight school, mountain flying course, etc. It gets my interest, if only because they take the students into Leadville, where I'd like to say I've been but where I'm not going without someone locally savvy.

Please let me know if you have any knowledge of Springs Aviation, their curriculum, or their instructors. One of them contacted me directly, but I don't want to post his name here without his permission.

Feel free to email me at swfraley at gmail with any insights you don't want the whole world to see.

The following week, I'm flying out of Cascade, ID with a local guy with a lot of experience in Skywagons there in the Frank Church and environs. Maybe I don't need to spend more time and money with instruction at KFLY, but more is always better, right?

Thanks.

More can be better, until they contradict each other. Then your left with the task of determining which one is "more better"

Oh, man. They always contradict each other, don't they?

Isn’t that the truth!

Some folks are instructors because they love to help others learn. Those people generally love to learn as well, so it can feel more like an exchange of ideas than a (mis)information dump. Others do it because they want to be seen as the superior expert. It doesn’t take long to spot which one you’re dealing with. After that it’s up to the student.
