Need Recomendation for Portable Intercom - 2 Place
Avionics, airplane covers, tires, handheld radios, GPS receivers, wireless Wx uplink...any product related to backcountry aircraft and flying.
.
There was an old thread on 2 place intercoms here on BCP way back in 2011.
https://www.backcountrypilot.org/forum/best-portable-intercom-for-2-place-aircraft-7223Anyway in less than 10 weeks it will be
2016.

I figure things have evolved a little. I lost my old one and am looking to buy a replacement.
Anyone have a current recommendation for a portable 2 person intercom. There seem to be
A LOT of choices out there. They all look alike. I have listed a few examples below.
I’ll be using two older Bose X headsets and likely renting an older ACA Decathlon.
I need portability, and no need to expand to say 4 users.
I need something that is hick-up free and reliable.
I need great ergonomics and simplicity.
I want to be able to use standard size rechargeable batteries.
What are you using and are you happy with it?Sigtronics Transcom II
FlightCom IIsx
PS Engineering AeroCom III & Flightmate

The flight com works great. You can have the one I pulled from the 182. It has a cig lighter adapter or will use a 9v battery. Just send me a pm.

The Flightcom is a great unit. It would be (and is) my choice.

Get anything you like so long as it is made by PS Engineering. All others are pretenders and I have tried them all. The PS product is superior in every respect!

For portables DRE is the absolute best. Fantastic portable, I have used them in many airplanes, quiet 172's to noisy Stearman's and T-6's. Very well priced if you can find one.

I haven't used a PS Engineering portable, but I have a PS Engineering audio panel, and the intercom function is so much better than the Sigtronic panel mounted intercom it replaced that there's no comparison. If I had a need for a portable intercom, PS Engineering would be my choice, hands down.
