I also posted this event in the Event section too. But for those of you that don't look at the calendar much, we will be having the 5th annual Negrito, NM flyin on 9/11/15 through 9/13/15.

Negrito is approximately 20 miles SE of Reserve, NM in the heart of the Gila National Forest. It is truly a special place and there are several other forest service strips within close proximity. For those of you that want to supply your own food, just show up. For those of you that want to go light (the strip is at 8,000 feet), we will be serving dinner Friday and Saturday nights and breakfast on Sunday and Monday mornings. Will prorate the fee if you are not there for all meals. Don't need to bring water, we will bring that for you. For those of you that are less than enamored with the allure of using the woods for your urinal, we will also have a Porta-Potty.

I wish I could make it. While spraying in the Mesilla Valley, I hiked over to the hot springs in the Gila Wilderness. I miss the desert.

Green Chile Brauts!!

For those of you coming to Negrito, we will be having Green Chile Brauts for the Friday night meal. Have a local butcher that makes up a batch of them especially for this occasion and man are they good!!! If you haven't had them before, you are in for a treat!

For those of you with less intestinal stamina, we will also have the non-chile variety.

As of now, weather is looking good for this weekend.

Negrito has received a lot of rain in the last couple of weeks, so we are going to be getting a first hand report on how the airstrip is now. As long as the airstrip is dry enough now, it looks like we are a go.

As soon as I receive that report, I will post final go / nogo here. But as of now it is looking like a go. We will make a final decision by Wednesday.

Dang! I'll be working out of town though 9/11 and will be flying home via commercial carrier late that evening. Given more time to get there from my home north of Seattle, this would have been a gem to add to my flight plans for the summer. I love NM and the area around the Gila is the source of many happy memories. Post lots of pictures after the fact and a full TR on the gathering. I'll live vicariously through your posting and will keep my fingers crossed for a possible attendance next year.

Maybe this will be of help.

Just heard from one of our members who was at Negrito this weekend and it was really wet (probably a little too wet for a flyin).

As the forecast this week is for light showers and low temps, I think the likelihood of the strip drying out by Friday are pretty slim.

We will come up with an alternate date and post it later this week.

For those of you coming, sorry to have to change your plans, but would rather be safe than sorry.

Gary, you have to knock that work bullshit off! It's cutting into your flying time, save it for the winter.
