Always nice to see another enthusiastic flyer joining the ranks. What kind of plane are you contemplating?

Well I'm hoping I can find a older mid time c-172 or a 150 with a new engine. Or a Cherokee 140. I've been researching importing one into Canada from the US because of the lower prices, but that looks like to be a whole other topic.

I have an importer in sask pm me I will give you his contact info. It may only be worth it if you find a really good deal because it will probably ad five to seven grand on to the price. He told me to plan on five grand and make sure it has STCs for any mods, but that was seven years or so ago so better talk to him for details.

Wow. That's a lot. I had my AME do the inspection so the importer only had to do the paperwork and it was $2500. I found it fairly painless and got a plane for less then buying here. But like you say, make sure there is stcs for any mods that have been done. Also, make sure the prop is under the 10/5 year limit( depending on cs or FP) and the engine was overhauled by an certifies engine shop, not just a mechanic.
