Took awhile but pretty happy about the final results. Panel before, then on the ground and in the air on the way home from the shop. Amazing the technology available these days. Just waiting on the panel eyebrow.

That's an amazing looking panel. The G3X is amazing technology - go big or go home. I am about to spend some money on my panel too. You got rid of all the old gauges. I am guess lost quite a bit of weight too.

Re: New Instrument Panel for '66 Cessna 180 H

The shop is building the eyebrow custom - just wasn't quite done and I wanted to get the annual done while my IA had some time in his schedule.

It's a G500 TXI. As for weight, lost some taking out the old stuff, gained a little with the autopilot servos etc. so it was a wash. But with this airplane a few pounds plus or minus doesn't matter at all anyway.

Wow, that looks awesome. Love the clean look. I can't quite tell by the pics, but is that panel two sections? Also, how come you went with an array of digital engine instruments vs. an all in one unit? Don't take that to mean that I claim to know whether one way is better, I'm just curious.....

Enjoy that autopilot!

Congratulations! Looks superb. I assume you installed the Cies fuel senders along thatAerospace Logic indicator? Just bought the same.
What made you choose Txi against G3x?

Great looking panel.

Can you change the G500 TXI to dual cue?

Re: New Instrument Panel for '66 Cessna 180 H

Went with the individual instruments for a few reasons - had an Insight GEM CHT/EGT for 25 years in the plane and am really comfortable with it . Though it still worked perfectly figured I'd get the Insight G2 for a few more features and all new probes and wires. Have nothing against the all in one instruments but am not short on panel space and the readouts on the all in ones are pretty small for my old eyeballs. Plus I really like the Aerospace Logic digital instruments and wanted also to keep my FS-450 Fuel Flow. Using the original fuel senders with the new fuel gauges. Went with the G500 rather than the G3X because it has much more capabilities.
The shop didn't see a way to change the G500 TXI to dual cue - it was easy on the G5. Will have to call Garmin about that. Not the end of the world but I prefer dual cue. On the G5 the single cue is really small, dual cue is better IMHO. Not as big a deal on the G500 as the display is bigger. New panel is actually 3 sections - left, right, and bottom.

I don’t believe the 180 is on the certified aircraft AML and neither is the Maule. Dang!

Hey yodacat,

What’s up with your inflight fuel flow? It shows on the G2 as 4.1gph at a power setting of 22 squared. Is that a calibration issue?

Good catch Chris - yes, you are correct. Haven't calibrated the FF function yet on the G2

I'm curious as to the mfr of your tach/MP gauge, also the oil pressure/oil temp/etc gauge under the tach/MP.
I assumed they were Insight also but I couldn't find them on the I nsight website.

Is that an STC'd iPad mount that fixed to the panel? I'd love to have a permanent mount in the same location.

IPad is portable so just screw a RAM ball to the panel, or even suction cup to the panel stayed on my 180 for the entirety of the 2 years I owned it in the same place. NO STC or logbook entry required.

It's a MGF iPad mount attached to the panel. Check my first post on this thread second pic.

They have a lot of excellent products https://mygoflight.com/
