Yup, Maule has 'em. Basically two pieces of tape, one stuck to the trailing edge of the horiz stab and the other stuck to the leading edge of the elevator. They are then stuck together in the middle and effectively seal any airflow between the Horz stab and the elevator. Result is a significant increase in elevator authority.

BTW, I did the VG's and elevator seals myself under the supervision of an A/P. Not really difficult at all. (And no, the VG's have not fallen off ;-) )

What was the cost of those seals? Color? (duct tape grey? :D )
I offered to install the VG's but my mechanic wants to paint them up nice and purdy and install them as a part of the restoration. I wanted to install them after I stripped the wings but he didn't want me to because he says it makes painting the wing harder...he was probably worried about knocking some off.

The tape is clear and about 40.00 if I remember correctly. Comes with some cleaner/primer to enhance the bonding.

I painted the VG's myself using carpet tape to hold them to the table while I shot them. They turned out great. It actually takes longer to prep and paint the darn things than to install 'em.

I guess I'll have to get those seals...think I'll put them on myself AFTER I get my plane back...he's already 4 months behind schedule...adding these seals to the list could set me back another two months!

Hey Mtnflyr...the name doesn't ring a bell. I moved here in 1990 so he may have been around before my time.
