I sincerely appreciate everyone's input. Think I'll keep my head on a swivel, use the life size display / windshield, and use the call that seems appropriate for the situation.

And ignore the guy who clicks on saying "Doesn't that plane have a tail number..."

A guy at my airport makes his radio calls using "Cessna 1-8-5".
He's fooled me more than once when I look for a Skywagon,
since he flies a Cessna 120. The tail number ends in 185.
