North Cascades Aircraft Museum Closing

For those of you who have not taken the chance to visit the N. Cascades Aircraft Museum in Concrete, WA ( Mears 3W5), you should make plans to go there soon.

I saw this announcement today:

http://vintageaircraftmuseum.org/

Unfortunate loss of a real little gem in the Pacific NW.

If someone on the Fly PNW Facebook page could post this, it would be appreciated.

Its a real shame theyre ckosing the doors. The good side of that is that i understand they will be distributing their airplane collection to some other vintage museums, probaby including thre ones at Port Townsned and Hood Rivwr.

Re: North Cascades Aircraft Museum Closing

Tom: This has been discussed on the FATPNW facebook page since last summer. The rumors were alive and active long before any official announcements were made. It is a shame because that flyin was one of the best the PNW had to offer. It had that small town, old time feel and a lot of that was due to the museum's collection and the informal way the museum was laid out. Since their collection was in a bunch of individual hangars that were indistinguishable from the hangars that were home to privately owned and operated planes it just felt like a step back in time to wander the grounds. Sigh.

Re: North Cascades Aircraft Museum Closing

Although the museum will no longer be sponsoring the fly-in, I think it will continue. Its been one of the most popular events in the puget sound area for a number of years. In fact, the museum has only sponsored it for a few years now. I dont think the local guys who put it on before that will let it die. If need be, id be willing to go help out with it before id let it go away.

I may have to get my wife to monitor FATPNW more often. Being a social media Luddite, I am not on any of the data mining sites.

My dad helped the previous owner of the Fairchild 22, Bill Worman, very nice fellow. My dad flew the Fairchild 22 and he said it was a very nice flying airplane. It sure looks like a nice flying airplane, I sure would like to fly one. Its too bad there aren't more of them around.

I just ran into Bill Worman's son Jack a couple weeks ago.
He came into the PT Aero Museum to look around.
We had a talk about his dad, and about how the F22 ended up at Concrete.
