Nostalgic ride from RHC to Catalina Is.

It takes strength and fortitude to beat the air into submission.

Nostalgic ride from RHC to Catalina Is.

Join me for a ride departing from the Robinson factory to Catalina Island. Hopefully, will be anchoring at Toyon Bay in July.

Nice video!!!!! I contacted the guy that owned my 54 180 in the early 70's. It was based at John Wayne and he flew over to Catalina. He told about several interesting trips. He was a movie guy and did some work for Evinrude on the Snake River. Flew it to Alaska and Gouldings Lodge where several Indians had to help push on the struts to get it out a a sandy tie down area.

Thanks for sharing. A flight to Catalina is a right of passage for all students pilots that trained in So Cal. I remember that first flight from 1984.

Thank you for watching. Lots of connections to the Hollywood scene out at Catalina. Many of my friends were involved in movie/television production business.

Totally recommend landing at “Airport in the Sky” as your friend did in the C180! Really good buffalo burgers and a nice view from the restaurant.Image

Toyon Bay. We would top rope the rock and free climb it. I’m wondering if the expansion bolt is still there.

Below clip is from a motion picture filmed on Island (one of many movies and TV shows). Location: “Two Harbors” at the Isthmus. My helicopter VIDEO (post #1) shows the area from above…

Tonight I was watching the film “Battle of the Coral Sea” on YouTube. Looking at the Wikipedia page, I noticed it was filmed on Catalina Island in 1959. I got a good laugh, check it out…

Filming started March 1959.[3] Location filming was done on Santa Catalina Island and the Channel Islands off the coast of California.
