Tried and true moka pot does it for me.

Based on the coolness of this photo, i dug my moka pot out this morning. Made a pretty damned good cup of strong coffee that needed some cream to quell the bitterness. It was good though.
But the moka pot remains a voodoo sort of thing that’s a mystery to throttle. Water temp is such a key parameter in tuning your extraction, and the moka makes that tough to accomplish, in my experience anyway. It's a kind of trial and error thing...set a low to medium heat and wait, see how long the coffee will flow before it bubbles. This cup this morning…i could feel my chest hair growing with the first sip, but I didn't get a full cup brewed before it started bubbling, which I think is a sign your water is now too hot.
By contrast, the aeropress is like the best of French press and pour-over cones. I use an electric kettle with a thermostat button for 195°F (91°C for canucks) and that makes some very predictable results. Then, I use the inverted method so my coffee steeps for as long as i want before dripping through.
With all that in mind, i want to find a compact way to make true espresso, which is pressurized steam extraction.
I’m glad we have recovered this true aspect of backcountry flying for lasting, meaningful discussion. Talking about mere airplanes gets boring…and I can't fly so let's make coffee.
