Yeah, also luck and some skill. But I guess you said that.....just more colorfully! I mean look at the clearance he had to those trees when his canopy opened, and how would you practice for that landing?? I don't know how long that vid has been out there but damn it sure popped my eyes open

That dude is excellent! These amateur daredevils deserve more credit than they get. I am not excellent but tried to be back in '91 or so. Somehow, at an auction, we scored the first Honda three-wheeler invented--the kind with the big balloon tires with no sidewall. Not doing my math like the guy in the video i was going to ramp it in our new muddy pond.

So, without the math your ATV never really becomes airborne. At full speed it sort of just noses down into the water and you follow it. We sacrificed the engineering for a safety crew. My buddy who was an EMT chucked a tractor inter-tube near the spot of immersion. I came to the surface just in time to be knocked back under.

We learned a lot. It became clear that if we could get some BIGGER TIRES it would work. Luckily, by the time we got the water out of the carburetor we had moved on to black powder.

The best thing about that video is that this was what it looked like when everything went RIGHT!

Just like any other batshit crazy stunt, I'm sure the list of other potential outcomes was as long as it was unattractive.
